In a prior post, I talked about Building relationships among bloggers and Link Friends. For those who are looking to draw a lot of traffic to their sites, one of the most important things you can do after writing a great blog post is submitting it to a social bookmarking site. There are quite a few of these on the web that I will cover throughout the next few weeks but today I want to introduce you all to Digg.

Digg is one of the most widely read social sites on the internet which allows it’s members to submit news stories and vote on the ones they like. The news stories that receives a high number of votes get pushed to the front page of the site and you can end up with tens of thousands of visitors clicking on your site to check out your story. If you stay dedicated to participating in the community (submitting your blogs, voting on news stories, etc) it will deliver a significant amount of traffic to your site over time.

So Here’s the deal:

I want each of you to go over to Digg.com and sign up for an account. To submit a blog, you would click on the Submit New tab and paste the url of the post you want to submit. Next plug in a descriptive title that will gain attention and a short summary that will make the visitor want to click the link and go to your site to read more. Submit the story and it will end up in the Upcoming links for people to read.

Now here’s where team building comes in. You can either find some friends to vote on your story so it doesn’t get buried in the hundreds of stories that come in a day or, you can sign up to be a part of the Urban Blogger Network. The participants in the Urban Blogger Network will work together to digg and vote on each other’s stories each day. Sounds interesting?

To be a part of the UB Network, send an email to network@theurbanblogger.com with your blog name, email and url. You will be added to our list of sites and will obtain further instructions on how to Digg your story and submit it to the network for other members to Digg soon. The Network will also be used for Link Exchanges (see prior post) and more.
